Superb calligraphic specimen in accordion format employing ghazals of Jāmī (d.1492). Contributions to the cataloguing from Ali Rafi and Abdullah Ghouchani.

Former shelfmark: "108 T. D. M. [i.e. Tammaro De Marinis] on reverse of opening mounted leaf.
Binding: Heavy pasteboards covered in dark blue leather ; accordion / concertina format ; board linings in green coated paper embossed with scroll / interlace pattern ; upper and lower covers carry blind-stamped mandorla (filled with symmetrical vegetal composition, compare Déroche NSd 7) with tooled and gold-painted border ; sturdy leaves hinged together with green silk ; overall in fair condition with minor abrasion (vegetal design in mandorla only partially visible), staining, lifting and losses of leather, etc. ; housed in sturdy slipcase covered in same dark blue leather with tooled and gold-painted borders and rosette accents, lined with yellow paper ; likely not original binding.
Support: Written area in non-European (likely Persian) laid paper, well-burnished ; borders gold-flecked and tinted golden yellow with a slight pink hue ; written area of two leaves mounted on European laid paper.
Decoration: Illuminated headpiece (ʻunwān / sarlawḥ) at opening consisting of rectangular piece with empty gold cartouche flanked by red pendants and set off by swirling floral vegetal decoration in gold, white, red, etc. on a bright blue (reminiscent of lapis) ground, surmounted by a scalloped dome / triangular piece or hasp set in rectangular piece all filled with similar floral vegetal decoration on fields of gold and blue with turquoise, black and light blue accents, entire piece surmounted by vertical stalks (tīgh) and bordered in bands of gold and blue ; written area gold-flecked and surrounded by rich border consisting of gold, white, blue, and turquoise bands flanking a heavy band of light blue with vegetal decoration in gold ; floral vegetal motifs set off opposite corners of written area ; margins heavily gold-flecked ; elegant illuminated tailpiece at close consisting of upper and lower rectangular pieces with empty gold cartouches (one rosette or mandorla-shaped, the other a scalloped lozenge) surrounded by floral vegetal designs in gold, white, blue and red on fields of blue with turquoise and gold accents surrounded by bands of gold, red, blue and heavy black and gold interlace.
Script: Nastaʻlīq ; compact, elegant hand in a medium line (fine specimen of calligraphy) ; serifless with characteristic descent of words to baseline and superscripting of final words and letters as well as elongation of horizontal strokes.
Layout: Written mainly in 8 lines per page on the diagonal, a hemistich per line ; frame-ruled.
Collation: Fourteen leaves or 'panels' hinged together with green silk in accordion format ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during cataloguing.
Explicit: "هر طرف كان سوخ راند جامي بيصبر و دل از پيش افغان كنان چون دادخواهي بگذرد"
Incipit: "از خارخار عشق تو در سینه دارم خارها هر دم شکفته بر رخم زان خارها گلزارها ..."
