Each vol. includes engraved frontispiece; title ornament; head- and tail-pieces.
Barbier, Brunet et al. attribute the earlier 1728 ed., published by Claude Jombert, to Charles Etienne Briseux. However, Jombert fils claims in the avertissement of this new ed. that most of the designs are by Gilles Tiercelet. Cf. Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians, vol.
