- Summary
-
"The Bund für Mutterschutz (Alliance for Protection of the Mother) (1904-1940) brought together reformers with divergent ideas and goals, who only partially and temporarily agreed with each other. As a result, and because of the changing political conditions, the political-ideological direction of the organisation frequently altered in the interplay of forces. In a biographical approach, the concepts and ideas of the leading rivals in the Alliance -- Ruth Bré and Helene Stöcker -- are highlighted as reflections of the positions of the competing contemporary social movements, along with attempts to convey demands for women's rights through art"--English abstract from back cover via publisher's translation
