- Summary
-
This Appendix summarizes the results of five separate wind tunnel test series accomplished for the Mach number range from 0.17 to 1.6 on a one-tenth scale model of the AFTI demonstrator. A total of 876 runs were made during these Phase I tests. The model was designed for test both as an aerodynamic model with flow-through inlet ducts, and as a powered model with faired inlets and internal, compressed-air-driven rectangular nozzles, non-metric to the model. Representative test results are presented from these tests which led to preliminary configuration development and to technology devices development and substantiation. Details of the development of the model nozzle configuration and wind-off vectoring test are presented. Preliminary wind tunnel program plans for Phase III are included.
