"Attributed to Pierre Matthieu by Bourgeois and André. He laments that the same tyrannies, seditions, and wars that plagued the Roman Empire under Tiberius also plague France. Matthieu, a lawyer, was born in 1563 and thus recounts the history of the wars of religion and the role Henry IV played"--French Political Pamphlets Digital Collection, Brigham Young University.
