- Summary
-
"In letters written to the three estates of France, - Clergy, Nobility, and people - the author gives advice concerning the current state of affairs in France. To the Clergy: do not fall into the late trap which occurred in the 1590's with the Holy League. To the Nobility: as the backbone of the state, support the King as well as each other. To the People: do not be swayed by religious arguments which lead to domestic tragedy and civil war. Louis XIII is concerned for all people. The civil war to which he refers is the revolt of the nobility against the regency of the Queen Mother"--French Political Pamphlet Digital Collection, Brigham Young University.
