History
Catalogs
- Note
-
Vol. 1 contains a comprehensive history of the collection, with chapters on other noted medieval collections; reprints of the catalogs drawn up by Viglius ab Aytta in 1577 and P. Franquen in 1731; "Inventaire. No. 1-18000." Vols. 2-3 (Répertoire méthodique") comprise polygraphy and history (v. 3: Histoire des Pays Bas). The work was never completed as planned, but a "Répertoire onomastique" was issued by Marchal in 1857.
Compiled by Joseph Marchal while librarian of the Bibliothèque royale des ducs de Bourgogne, before it was merged into the Bibliothèque royale de Belgique in 1838.
