- Summary
-
This report presents the results of 92 lateral shear tests conducted on 1 and 2-inch diameter anchor bolts installed in concrete to determine lateral resistance. The parameters that were examined included: edge distance, type and configuration or reinforcement method of installation, bolt diameter, bolt strength, and method of loading. 78 of the tests were performed by loading bolts in pure shear, while 14 tests were performed by loading bolts in combined shear and bending-stress. 10 specimens were subjected to low-cycle loading without stress reversal. 14 pure shear tests were conducted on pairs of 1-inch diameter bolts to determine the effect of group action. Results, conclusions, and recommendations are presented.
