Woodcuts: large title vignette featuring seated figure of Pope Pius V, the papal coat of arms at his feet, flanked on the left by John of Austria, who led the Holy League fleet (on behalf of Philip II of Spain), and on the right the doge of Venice Sebastiano Venier, who served as admiral of the Venetian fleet at the Battle of Lepanto in 1571; vignette on page [12] of the lion of St. Mark, the symbol of the patron saint of Venice; the report "Per l'ultimo auuiso di Venetia a di xxvii. d'Ottobre 1571" is illustrated with a small vignette of a ship sailing through the pillars of Hercules, around which is entwined a ribbon bearing caption "Plus ultra" (page [11]); several small ornamental initials.
