Summary

This publication was developed by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training with the assistance of a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety and a committee of recognized driver training experts and managers of law enforcement driver training programs. The course is directed at accident causes, liability issues, improving driver attitudes, and recognition of each participant's capabilities and limitation through practical exercises. When used properly, the course will also assist agency management in identifying those drivers who need additional skill development and training.
