- Summary
-
The compressible Navier-Stokes equations in mass averaged variables are numerically solved for flow around a surface mounted turret. The three-dimensional unsteady separated flow is investigated with emphasis on the near wake region. The computation is performed on the CRAY-1 computer using MacCormack's explicit finite difference scheme. For the free stream Mach number 0.55 and Reynolds number 10.3 x 1,000,000/m, the time dependent calculation is carried out for 55,800 grid points in the computational domain to achieve steady state periodic solution. The entire flow field around the turret is analyzed and the comparison with available experimental data is reported. (Author).
