- Summary
-
Many new absorption lines and series were recently observed which belong to the atomic oxygen ground state 2s2 2p4 triplet-P in the 600-960 A wavelength region. In this report, it is pointed out that some anomalously large cross-section measurements using line background sources can be understood, since there will be absorption by the atomic oxygen lines as well as the ionization continuum. The cross-sections are in better agreement with theoretical calculations when this additional absorption is considered. (Author).
