Summary

Relationships were derived based on fundamental geometrical factors and with a minimum of assumptions which can be used to describe or predict the energy spectrum and effective emission of [alpha]-particles from a microspherical source. The calculated values using the derived relationships and experimental data for ²³⁸PuO₂ microspheres are in good agreement.
