The major portion of this pamphlet was submitted to the faculty of the Division of library science of the George Washington university in part satisfaction of the requirements for the degree of master of arts in June, 1934. It has since been revised, and patent publications from the smaller countries have been added. During 1933 and 1934 the thesis was published serially in the Journal of the Patient office society. cf.
