Summary

An investigation of the brightness temperature distribution of the Galactic Spur in the northern hemisphere has been carried out for the 20 to 40 MHz frequency range. Observations were made at 38.75, 33.45, 26.70, and 22.30 MHz during March-April 1967, using the 1000-ft radio telescope of the Arecibo Ionospheric Observatory. These observations supersede the very limited observations taken at Arecibo the previous year. Descriptions of the observations and the data analysis are given. Contour maps of the Galactic Spur (corrected antenna temperature and brightness temperature) for the four frequencies are presented, covering the celestial region alpha = 12h to 18h, Delta = 0 to +35 degrees. The rainbow, the minor spiral arm, and the supernova remnant theories of the Spur's origin are discussed. (Author).
