- Summary
-
Geodesy plays an important role in determining satellite orbits and paths of chemical releases. A simple hydrostatic model gives the correct flattening ratio of the six oblate planets within a factor of 2.05. A conjecture is hazarded as to why the agreement is not even better. (Author).
