Part 1, Corsica to Marengo, is a rearrangement of the translation published in 1823 with title: Memoirs of the history of France during the reign of Napoleon, dictated by the emperor at Saint Helena to the generals who shared his captivity, and published from the original manuscripts corrected by himself. Part 2, The Waterloo campaign, is a new translation by the editor from the French original published anonymously in 1820, with title: Mémoires pour servir a l'histoire de France en 1815. Supper at Beaucaire was translated into English for the first time by the editor and published separately in 1945.
