Engraved t.p. by Isaac Briot, dated 1621. Each ill. in frame of rules with letterpress title. Frames empty on p. 146, 166. Engraved head-pieces and initials at beginning of subdivisions.
The plates by Crispijn van de Passe first appeared at Cologne in 1602; ill. on p. 133 retains that date. See Henkel. Tops of letters visible beneath some ill. are traces of Latin distychs, imperfectly effaced, that appeared in the plate beneath van de Passe's engravings. Some plates are after Maarten de Vos, whose name appears on those on p. 45, 118, 282.
The 15 books of the Metamorphoses, together with Renouard's Jugement de Paris and 15 Discours, are followed by his translations of Ovid's Remedes contre l'amour and the first canto of Ariosto's Roland furieux.
First Guillemot ed. of Renouard's prose translation appeared 1606 (date of engraved t.p.). Reissued 1614. See BN, Ovide 521-2.
