Some in-text woodcut ill. in v. 2 and 3 are signed IA, IAT or ?GIA (91v), for Jost Amman; some have block cutters' initials as well (knife with O, FO). A number of these ill. were used previously in the Bible, Icones Livianae, and Opera Josephi Flavii (Illustrated Bartsch 20/2, p. 247ff, 346ff., 741ff.).
The woodcut ports. of Mohammed and the Turkish sultans in v. 1, bk. 1 are by Amman (Illustrated Bartsch 20/2, p. 455 ff.). Some of the ports. reappear as t.p. vignettes for vols. 2 and 3, Aventinus, and Barleti's two works. That on the t.p. of v. 3 reappears in v. 3, leaves 22v and 176r, to represent George Scanderbeg.
Woodcut t.p. vignette of a Turkish rider, v. 1, is by Jost Amman (Illustrated Bartsch 20/2, p. 604). It reappears on v. 1, leaf 14v to represent Tamerlane, and on v. 3, leaf 1r. Feyerabend's large woodcut device of Fame, signed at left F / IVL(or ML) and at right MF, appears on v. 1, leaves 43r and [133]v, and v. 3, leaves 271v and [276]r. The dedications to all 3 vols. are accompanied by woodcuts of the dedicatees' arms. The first is by Amman; see I. O'Dell, Jost Ammans Buchschmuck, p. 27. Head and tail pieces, historiated and foliated initials.
Aventinus in v. 1, and v. 2 and 3 have special t.p.'s. Printer-publisher on t.p. of v. 2: Ex officina Georgij Coruini, impensis Sigismundi Feyrabendij.
