Charter of the city of Berkeley /
prepared and proposed by the Board of Freeholders elected November 21, 1908, in pursuance of the provisions of Section 8, Article XI of the Constitution of the State of California. Ratified by the qualified electors of the town of Berkeley at a special municipal election held on January 30, 1909. Subsequently presented to the Legislature of the state of California and thereafter approved. In effect July 1st 1909.
