The original Spanish manuscript is lost. An Italian translation by G.B. Ramusio was published in his "Terzo volvme delle navigationi et viaggi ... Venetia, 1556," l. 371-414. It was translated from the Italian into Spanish by Josquin Garciá Icazbalceta, in 1849, and published as an appendix to his Spanish translation of Prescott's "History of the conquest of Peru". It was republished in "Obrás de ... Garcia Icazbalceta", Mexico, 1898, v. 8. The present English translation is from the Spanish text issued by Garcia Icazbalceta in in 1849. Cf.
