A system for nuclear auxiliary power (SNAP 2) was designed to deliver 3 kw of usable electrical energy to a satellite or other space vehicle for a duration of 1 year. This report defines the SNAP 2, PSM-2, Phase-II, prototype system program. The need for a structural test item is discussed and the resulting objectives presented. A summation of the design, fabrication and assembly efforts is given. The test program is outlined and some preliminary results are discussed.
