Fifty-seven plates are albumen prints, 20 x 27 cm., mounted on cardboard. Of these photographs, 37 were taken by William H. Griggs (1832-1911) in 1854 and 20 were taken by James S. Waterhouse (1842-1922) in 1866. Waterhouse was an Indian army officer and head of the photographic department of the Survey of India from 1866-1897. Other plates include 40 lithographs by Griggs, from drawings by F.C. Maisey; a map of Amravati; and a plan of the Amravati tope (stupa).
