This sale constitutes the remaining portion of the de Boze auction which was scheduled for 1753. The contents of the 1753 sale were purchased en bloc, by Jules François Cotte and Charles-Robert Boutin shortly after the publication of the 1753 catalog. They retained a portion of the collection for themselves, sold another portion to Gaignat, and auctioned the remainder in this sale via Martin.
