Latin text in v. 1 by Jacob Bryant with French translation by P.H. Maty; in v. 2 Latin text by William Cole, translation by L. Dutens.
British Museum/Library provides publication dates of 1780?-1790?, while LCCN 12-14041 gives "1st edition 1783". Bryant's biographer in DNB and editor's statements in the 1845 ed. give 1783 as the publication date. Bartolozzi's biographer, A.W. Tuer states the work was "issued by the third [i.e., fourth] Duke of Marlborough, for private distribution, between the years 1780-91." Frontispiece in this ed. is dated "F. Bartolozzi sculp. London 1780" in v. 1 and that in v. 2 "publish'd Jan'y 1 1780." Presentation copies dated 1781 by Marlborough are known.
First published in an edition of 100 presentation copies.
Plates numbered 1 to 50 in each vol. which also have frontispieces, the whole engraved by F. Bartolozzi after drawings by G.B. Cipriani.
