545 ‡aArt historian and archaeologist Evelyn Byrd is a fifth-century B.C Athenian sculpture expert. Harrison joined the American School of Classical Studies excavation in the Athenian Agora in 1949 and received her doctorate from Columbia in 1952. She was professor of art history and archaeology at Columbia and Princeton before her tenure as professor at the Institute of Fine Arts in New York.
