Third edition, the first with woodcuts by Jost Amman (cf. Lipperheide). First ed. appeared in 1530 under title: Anfang, Vrsprung, vnnd Herkomen des Thurnirs in Teutscher Nation. Later ed., published 1579-80, has title: Thurnierbuch.
Illustrations: numerous woodcuts, frequently repeated, some are signed I.A. (Jost Amman), two are signed with the monogram HB (D4 and T1vo), possibly by Hans Bocksberger (cf. Fairfax Murray).
Duplicate numbering: leaf CXCII missnumbered as CXCIII, in turn CXCIII misnumbered as CXCXIII; leaf Ss[iv] missnumbered as Ssiij.
Printed in German Gothic letter, full page and double columns. Title printed in red and black with a large woodcut vignette of the Emperor's court, verso blank. On )(2-4 dedication ("Vorrede") to Ferdinand archduke of Austria, on )(5 address "An die gestrengen Edlen ...", both signed by Sigmund Feyerabend and dated 1566, on )(6 woodcut vignette of Victory with Latin verses by Hartmann Schopper, verso blank. Text follows, A-Ss3vo. Register on Ss4 (marked 3)-6vo.
