520 3 ‡aA solution is derived for the thermal stresses in a finite cylindrical solid composed of a material for which the modulus of elasticity decreases linearly with an increase in temperature. The cylinder is assumed to contain a distribution heat source that is radially symmetrical. The solution which heat is produced by fission. The results are compared with those obtained from a plane strain solution.
