The one, of the murther of Maister Beech a Chaundler in Thames-streete, and his boye, done by Thomas Merry. The other of a young childe murthered in a Wood by two Ruffins, with the consent of his Vnckle.

The name Yarington is perhaps fictious. The play may be an amalgamation of two earlier plays by Day, Haughton, and Chettle--"The tragedy of Thomas Merry" and "The orphan's tragedy," recorded in Henslowe's diary, but now lost. cf. Camb. hist. of Eng. lit., v. 5, p. 362-363; Dict. nat. biog.
