- Summary
-
"This study has to do mainly with the life history of second-growth white pine on old fields and pastures in New England. The subject is considered from the germination of the seed to that stage of growth when the tree and the stand of which it is a component part have attained sufficient size for consumption by various woodworking industries ... The purpose of the study is to furnish such information about the characteristics of the white pine and the conditions governing its growth as shall be of assistance to persons in New England who are interested in learning how to make young stands already established most profitable or how to provide for the further extension of this valuable timber"--Page 5.
