Aerial View of Lyle Township Sections 25, 26, 35 and 36 shows farmland, trees, roads and homes. Village of Lyle was platted on Section 36 in 1870. The Lyle Village School District 70 is located within the city's limits. County Road 6 crosses Federal Highway 218 that travels along side the rails shared by both the Chicago Great Western Railroad and the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad between Austin and Lyle. The Illinois Central Railroad enters Lyle from the west and travels southward into Iowa.
