I. Snegirev originally published a volume of this dictionary in 1838, containing the letters A-G, with some additions. M.P. Pogodin, editor of the Moskvi︠t︡i︠a︡nin, later acquired the publisher's rights from Snegirev and issued the entire work in the present form following the original manuscript.
