Letter from the Secretary of War, transmitting a report of the chief engineer, accompanied by a report upon the reconnoissance of a route, across the Cumberland Mountain, of the national road contemplated from Washington to New Orleans, and a map of the country between those two cities. : January 30, 1828. Read, and laid upon the table. February 7, 1828. Referred to the committee of the whole House to which is committed the bill (no. 44) to regulate the laying out and making a national road from the city of Washington, in the District of Columbia, to New Orleans, in the state of Louisiana.
