Plates are aquatints with etching. "Calcografia Negretti" at foot of some. Some have legends which identify the artists as Lanfranco Puzzi or Ant. Lanzani after Carlo d'Arco or Carlo Savazzi. The plates of v. 1 have two blind-embossed stamps at foot of plate mark with the initials A.F.N. and S.A.N., perhaps those of the fratelli Negretti. The plates of v. 2 & 3 have a blind stamp centered above the lower plate mark with the word "MUSEO".
In v. 2 of Getty copy, plate xlviii bound in upside down.
Vol. 1: [4], iii, 309 [i.e. 315], [1] p. (the last blank), lvi leaves of plates (some folded); two blank leaves are unpaged (4th leaf in gathering 2, 6th in gathering 6), and the recto of the 1st leaf in gathering 15 repeats that of the last leaf in 14. Vol. 2: [2], 312, [4], 313-315, [1] p. (the last blank), lii leaves of plates (some folded). Vol. 3: [2], 441, [7] p. (the last blank), lvi leaves of plates (some folded).
Each vol. has etched t.p. with date 1837. The additional letter-press t.p.'s in each vol. are retained from the 1st ed. and have dates 1830, 1833, 1834.
