- Note
-
"The Skidmore, Owings & Merrill Foundation was established in 1979 to support and advance studies in the fields of Architecture and Urban Planning. From its inception, there has been a desire for the foundation to be centered on 'common ground', i.e., removed from the pressures of business as well as the distractions of academic life. In April of 1986, a location was found which would satisfy these requirements, The Charnley House ... The following document serves to outline the history of the house and the manner in which it can be restored."--p. 1.
