Origin: As appears in colophon on p.486, transcription completed 10 Jumādá I 1242 [?] [ca. 10 December 1826 ?, numerals have been tampered with and third numerals is particularly unclear, i.e. 12?2] on the order of ʻAṭā Ḥusayn Khānʹṣāḥib ( عطا حسين خانصاحب ). As appears in preceding authorial colophon on p.485, composition completed in 1231 [1816 or 17].

Binding: Pasteboards covered in royal blue leather ; Type III binding (without flap) ; pastedowns and flyleaves in untinted wove paper ; sewn in cream thread over two recessed cords ; worked chevron endbands in cream and purple, good condition ; overall in fair condition with some abrasion, staining, lifting of leather, etc.
Support: non-European laid paper with roughly 10 laid lines per cm. (vertical, somewhat indistinct, some curving) and occasional chain lines faintly visible, cloudy formation, quite thin and transluscent though sturdy, cream in color, well-burnished ; extensive repairs in wove paper.
Decoration: Some keywords and headings rubricated, others overlined in red (mainly with two-teeth stroke abbreviation symbol).
Script: Nastaʻlīq ; spacious, elegant hand ; mainly serifless with effect of words descending to baseline, elongation and somewhat exaggerated thickness of horizontal strokes, pointing in strokes as well as distinct dots.
Layout: Written in 15 lines per page.
Collation: i, IV (8), III (14), IV (22), IV+1 (31), 7 IV(87), III (93), 10 IV(173), I+1 (176), 3 IV(200), II (204), 4 IV(236), II+1 (241), i ; chiefly quaternions ; middle of the quire marks in the form black oblique strokes in the upper outer corner of the right-hand leaf and the lower-outer corner of the left-hand leaf ; catchwords present ; foliation in black ink, Hindu-Arabic numerals ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes pastedowns and flyleaves).

Former inventory marks "MS 1906" and author "Amir ibn Khwaja Padshah Khan" in pencil on front flyleaf (p.4) ; at close on p.486, former owners' marks include ownership statement in name of Muḥammad ʻAṭā Ḥusayn ( محمد عطا حسين ), statement reads "المالك والقابض عبد الضعيف محمد عطا حسين عفى عنه وعن والديه", large rectangular seal impression dated 1263 [1846 or 7] in name of [..?] al-Dawlah Muḥsin al-Mulk Muḥammad Ḥusayn ʻAlīʹkhān Bahādur Ḥusayn Jang ( ... الدوله محسن الملك محمد حسين عليخان بهادر حسين جنگ ) and large octagonal seal impression with fish motifs possibly dated 1290 [1873 or 4] (compare impression in Isl. Ms. 873, fol.1a / p.1) ; on back flyleaf (p.488), stamp in name of James O'Kinealy (1837-1903), reads "J. O'KINEALY." in black ink ; numerous glosses ; occasional marginal corrections.
