Careful composite copy of two concise grammatical treatises, Shajarat alamānī, a work on Persian grammar and rhetoric by Muḥammad Ḥasan Dihlavī, known as Qatīl (d.1817), and Risālah-i Zubdat al-qavāʻid, a work on Persian grammar attributed to one Mīr Mahdī.

Binding: Boards covered in mauve paper (in blotched design evoking marbling) with brown leather over spine and board corners (half binding) ; Western style binding ; pastedowns and flyleaves in 'marbled' wove paper (mainly in beige and blue) ; spine gold-stamped with title "SHADJARATU L-AMĀNĪ VA ZUBDATU L-QAWĀʻID" ; sewn in cream thread over recessed cords ; stuck-on endbands in red, blue-green and white ; overall in fairly good condition with minor abrasion of leather at spine and board edges.
Support: non-European laid (likely Persian or Indian) paper of two main types ; opening work on a type with 9-10 laid lines per cm. (vertical, fairly indistinct, curving) and no chain lines plainly visible, quite cloudy formation, thin and transluscent though sturdy, well-burnished, dark cream in color ; second work on a type with roughly 8 laid lines per cm. (horizontal, fairly indistinct, curving) and irregular chain lines faintly visible (see p.84), cloudy formation, inclusions and fibers visible, thin and transluscent though sturdy, well-burnished, beige in color ; added / replacement leaves in European wove paper.
Decoration: Section headings and keywords rubricated.
Script: Nastaʻlīq and taʻlīq with elements of shikastah ; two elegant hands ; opening work in a compact nastaʻlīq, serifless with effect of words descending to baseline, elongation of horizontal strokes, pointing in strokes or conjoined dots ; second work in a taʻlīq with elements of shikastah, partially seriffed with left slopin head-serifs, leftward foot on alif, many swooping descenders (some recurved or reversed), effect of words descending to baseline, pointing in strokes rather than distinct dots, somewhat freely ligatured.
Layout: Written in 19-20 and 11 lines per page ; frame-ruled.
