Careful copy of a collection (majmūʻah) of mainly philosophical and Ṣūfistic texts opening with excerpts from the commentaries by Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Asʻad al-Dawānī (d.1502 or 3) and Ghiyāth al-Dīn Manṣūr Dashtakī Shīrāzī (d.1542) on Shihāb al-Dīn Yaḥyá ibn Ḥabash al-Suhrawardī's (d.1191) Hayākil al-nūr.

Origin: As appears in colophon on p.99, transcription of opening work completed 27 Muḥarram 1357, corresponding to 29 March 1938 and 20 Baramhāt [1654]. As appears in colophon on p.125, transcription of second work completed 2 Ṣafar 1357, corresponding to 3 April 1938 and 25 Baramāt 1656 [1654]. Likely copied in Egypt and eventually bound for James Heyworth-Dunne (d.1974).

Binding: Boards covered in dark green cloth with dark green leather over spine (quarter binding) ; pastedowns and flyleaves in wove paper printed with a floral vegetal pattern in green ; spine gold-stamped with title and decorative accents over raised bands "شرح الدواني | وشرح مير غياث | J.H.D." ; sewing difficult to examine ; stuck-on endbands (blue and white stripe) ; overall in fairly good condition.
Support: Lined / ruled wove paper.
Script: Ruqʻah ; compact hand in thin to bold line (line thickness varies considerably) ; serifless and freely ligatured with slight effect of inclination to the right and of words descending to baseline, pointing somewhat careless and in strokes rather than distinct dots.
Layout: Written mainly in 26 lines per page.
Collation: Pages between works left blank with some serving as 'title pages' (see pp.101, 129, 425) ; Pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization ; pagination in black ink and pencil, Hindu-Arabic numerals supplied for most of second work (pp.103-121) ; text of p.145 has been struck through by the copyist and is accompanied by a marginal note in which he explains his error.
Colophon: "Scribal," reads "قد وقع الفراغ في يوم الثلاثاء الموافق ٢٧ من محرم ١٣٥٧ المطابق ليوم ٢٩ من مارس ١٩٣٨ والمصادف للعشرين من برمهات شهر الخيرات والبركات" ; "Scribal," reads "كمل هذا التلخيص في ثاني صفر الخير ١٣٥٧ ثالث ابريل ١٩٣٨ ٢٥ برمات ١٦٥٦"
