Binding: Pasteboards covered in quite dark red leather ; Type II binding (with flap) ; board linings in untinted European laid paper (watermark visible in lower board lining) ; upper and lower covers carry tooled border with rosette like accents ; sewn in light yellow or pink thread, two stations ; worked chevron endbands in brown and cream, only tail band remains ; overall in fair condition with some staining, abrasion, losses of leather at fore edge flap, etc.
Support: European laid paper mainly with alternating bifolia tinted dull-yellow ; untinted leaves with 11 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 27-28 mm. apart (horizontal), and watermarks including "ALMASSO" (see p.10), arms / scrollwork with crown above (see p.14), and "G M" (see p.20), crisp, thin and transluscent, well-burnished ; dull-yellow paper with 10 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 26-28 mm. apart (horizontal), and watermarks including circle with three fleurs de lis and crown above (see p.16), "L POLVARET DE IZERON 1780" (see p.22) and "L POLVARET DE IZERON 1781" (see p.26), thin, transluscent and well-burnished ; another type with 9-10 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 24-26 mm. apart (horizontal), and grapes (raisin) below crown watermark (see p.102) ; another type with 10 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 21-22 mm. apart (horizontal) and three stylized hats watermark (see p.156, 157, etc.) ; flyleaves in a paper with watermark of cross flanked by lions with circles below ("B A" in one circle).
Decoration: Keywords and abbreviation symbols (mainly two-teeth stroke) rubricated.
Script: Naskh ; elegant 'Ottoman' or Iraqi [?] hand in a narrow to medium line, initially smaller and from p.50 or so larger but also somewhat denser though sweeping ; partially seriffed with right-sloping head-serif on virtually all ascenders excepting free-standing alif, effect of tilt to the left, curvilinear descenders, pointing (for two and three dots) in strokes or conjoined dots, some elongation of horizontal strokes.
Layout: Written in 17 lines per page ; frame-ruled (impression of ruling board evident).
Collation: i, V+1 (11), 7 V(81), i ; Chiefly quinions ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes insert and flyleaves).
Explicit: "حدثنا محمد بن علي اخبرنا النضر اخبرني ابن عون عن ابن سيرين قال هذا الحديث دين فانظروا عمن تاخذون دينكم تمت الكتاب بعون الله الملك الوهاب الواهبين"
Incipit: "الحمد لله وسلام على عباده الذين اصطفى قال الشيخ الحافظ ابو عيسى محمد بن عيسى بن سورة الرمدى [الترمذي] رحمه الله باب ما جاء في خلق النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم حدثنا ابو رجاء قتيبة بن سعيد عن مالك بن انس عن ربيعة بن ابي عبد الرحمن عن انس بن مالك رضي الله عنه انه سمعه يقول كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ليس بالطويل البائن ولا بالقصير وليس بالابيطر [بالابيض] الامهق ولا بالادم ..."
