Incomplete copy of al-Rāzī's abridged recension of al-Jawharī's Arabic lexicon, Tāj al-lughah wa-ṣiḥāḥ al-ʻArabīyah, commonly known as al-Ṣiḥāḥ. Ends just following Baāb al-Kāf with an excerpt from Bāb al-Lām.

Binding: Pasteboard covered in green-brown leather with dark brown leather repairs on spine and at edges/turn-ins ; Type II binding (with flap, now mostly lost) ; board linings in laid paper ; cover bears blind-stamped scalloped mandorla with floral vegetal composition (compare Déroche class. NA 4) and gold-painted accents, along with frame in tooled fillets; sewn in yellow thread, two stations, though many quires loose ; endbands entirely gone ; in extremely poor condition with envelope flap and portion of fore-edge flap lost, upper cover detaching, significant abrasion, staining, lifting and losses of leather (especially at spine), delamination of boards, etc. ; housed in box for protection.
Support: non-European laid paper with 6-7 laid lines per cm., curved and sagging ; chain lines only sporadically visible ; quite smooth with very few inclusions but whole fibers seen in sheet ; minor pest damage and staining.
Decoration: Keywords, section headings, and abbreviations rubricated ; occasional textual divders in the form of inverted commas in red.
Script: Nastaʻlīq ; virtually serifless ; mainly closed counters ; characteristic effect of words descending to baseline, occasionally even more exaggerated ; occasional extension of horizontal strokes ; mainly closed counters ; letterforms characteristic of nastaʻlīq ; extensively vocalized.
Layout: Written in 17 lines per page ; frame-ruled.
Collation: 9 V(90), I (92), 2 (94) ; a leaf or more may be missing near close (between pp.186-187, compare catchwords) ; chiefly quinions ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization.
Explicit: "اللام اللبد بوزن الجلد واحد اللبد واللبدة اخص منه قلت وجمعهما البد ومنه قوله بضم الكاف وقد يدخلون عليه تمت الكتاب بعون الله الملك الوهاب تم"
Incipit: "الحمد لله بجميع المحامد على جميع النعم والصلوة والسلام على خير خلقه محمد المبعوث إلى خير الأمم وعلى آله وصحبه مفاتيح الحكم ومصابيح الظلم قال العبد الفقير إلى رحمة ربه ومعرفته محمد بن أبي بكر بن عبد القادر الرازي رحمة الله تعالي عليه هذا مختصر في علم اللغة جمعته من كتاب الصحاح ... وسميته مختار الصحاح ..."

Mukhtar al-sihah." ; circular seal impression with figure of goat/gazelle in purple ink as well as inscription "122" in Western numerals 'title page' (p.1) ; also on 'title page' (p.1) waqf statement in name of al-Sayyid al-Ḥājj ʻAbd Allāh, muftī in Erzincan, reads "وقف السيد الحاج عبد الله المفتي بكتبخانه [؟] المعمورة بارزنجان" ; fairly clean copy with very few marginalia.
