Binding: Pasteboards covered in dark red leather ; Type II binding (with flap) ; doublures in dark green leather ; upper and lower covers bear large blind-stamped and gold-painted mandorla (compare Déroche class. OAi 4), pendants and corner pieces with floral vegetal composition, accompanied by gold-painted border of tooled fillets framing a narrow roll in a series of s-shaped stamps ; design continues on envelope flap ; doublures and interior of envelope flap carry simple tooled and gold-painted ornaments in interlace accompanied by border in tooled and gold-painted fillets ; sewn in lime green thread, two stations ; endbands lost ; overall in quite poor condition with abrasion, staining, some lifting and losses of leather, severe delamination of boards, pest damage, traces of adhesive on doublures and interior of envelope flap, envelope flap almost fully detached, etc. ; housed in envelope for protection.
Support: European laid paper with 10-11 laid lines per cm. (vertical) and chain lines spaced roughly 39 mm. apart (horizontal) ; hand/glove watermark with six leaves/six-pointed star above (compare Heawood 2482) ; lightly burnished ; staining and tearing.
Decoration: Elegant illuminated headpiece (ʻunwān) at opening (p.2) consisting of rectangular piece surmounted by semi-circular piece (dome) ; rectangular piece bears central cartouche in gold carrying title of work "كتاب شرح قطب الدين" in white (now somewhat oxidized), surrounded by floral vegetal design in shades of gold, pink, white, blue, etc. on fields of blue (lapis lazuli/cobalt) and gold ; entire rectangular piece is surrounded by frame with white crosses on a band of blue flanked by gold fillets ; semi-circular piece continues design found in rectangular piece and is surmounted by vertical stalks (tīgh) in blue ; written area of incipit and facing page surrounded by simple frame consisting of a two gold bands outlined by black fillets, thereafter (through p.20) written area surrounded by red rule-border ; keywords and abbreviations rubricated ; textual dividers in the form of inverted commas in red.
Script: Naskh ; fine Ottoman hand ; mainly serifless, with occasional head serifs appearing irregularly ; slight effect of tilt to the left ; many open counters ; rightward descenders fairly flat and tapered ; kāf mashkūlah (mashqūqah) preferred ; text of incipit and facing page extensively vocalized.
Layout: Written in 17 lines per page ; frame-ruled (impression of ruling board evident).
Collation: V-1 (9), 2 V(29), 2 IV(45) ; what appears to be an anomalous quinion followed by two quinions and two quaternions ; final leaf left blank ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes insert).
Explicit: "او كان هناك قرينة دالة على المراد جاز استعمالها تمت بعون الله وحسن توفيقه تم"
Incipit: "ان ابهى درر تنظم ببنان البيان وازهر زهر تنثر في اردان الاذهان ... وبعد فقد طال إلحاح المشتغلين على المترددين الي ان اشرح لهم الرسالة الشمسية وابين فيه القواعد المنطقية ... فوجهت ركاب النظر الى مقاصد مسائلها ... وسميت [كذا] بتحرير القواعد المنطقية في شرح الرسالة الشمسية ..."
