Binding: Pasteboards faced in laid marbled paper (originally in salmon, dark blue, yellow, blue-green, see envelope flap) with spine, fore-edge flap, and edges/turn-ins in red-brown leather (marbled paper faced, leather edged, framed binding) ; Type II binding (with flap) ; board linings in laid paper ; sewn in green-blue thread, two stations ; worked endbands in green and yellow, fair condition ; overall in poor condition with significant abrasion, staining, some lifting and losses of leather, delamination of boards (especially at corners), significant spine slant (cocked, especially at head), etc.
Support: European laid paper in several types ; one type with 12-13 laid lines per cm. (vertical) and chain lines spaced roughly 25 mm. apart (horizontal), lightly burnished ; another type with 11 laid lines per cm. (horizontal), chain lines spaced 24 mm. apart, watermark of lion passant with crown on head, fairly well-burnished ; another type with 13-14 laid lines per cm. (horizontal), chain lines spaced 18 mm. apart, watermark with shield/scrollwork of some type, thick and well-burnished ; some staining and leather burn.
Decoration: Keywords (mainly قوله) and abbreviations rubricated ; overlining in red.
Script: Naskh ; clear, bold Turkish hand ; mainly serifless but occasional right-sloping serif appears on joined alif ; slight effect of tilt to the left and of words descending to baseline ; some superscripting of letters and words at the end of a line ; freely ligatured ; bowl of final nūn extends to form a complete circle enclosing its dot ; kāf mashkūlah (mashqūqah) preferred though occasionally kāf is written as vertical stroke with miniature kāf seated above (effect of the whole being resemblance to hamzah seated on alif) ; final yāʼ mainly mardūdah ; rightward descenders are quite rounded ; final nūn is often reversed (or re-curved).
Layout: Written in 13 lines per page ; frame-ruled (impression of ruling board evident).
Collation: i, 2 V(20), VI (32), 18 V(212), IV (220) ; chiefly quinions ; final two leaves left blank ; catchwords present ; foliation in black ink, Hindu-Arabic numerals, ends with ٤٢ on p.89 ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes front flyleaf).
Colophon: "Scribal," triangular, reads: "الحمد لله على التمام وعلى رسوله افضل الصلوة والسلام وعلى اله واصحابه الى يوم القيام بوجوه التوفير والاحترام على يد افقر الطلاب واحوجهم الى رحمة الله الملك الوهاب احمد بن حسن غفر الله له ولوالديه واحسن اليهما واليه في شهر ذي الحجة في سنة اثنى عشر ومائتين والف من هجرة من اختص بالمحبوبين [؟] لله تعالى بالفرد الشرف [؟] في بلدة ارزة الروم في دائرة احمدية في ايام التحصيل"

Commentary of Kara Daud on Shamsiyah." ; circular seal impression with figure of goat/gazelle in purple ink as well as inscription "341" in Western numerals on front flyleaf (p.1) ; on blue-tinted paper pasted on ’title page’ (p.3), a detailed waqf statement in the name of al-Sayyid ʻAbd Allāh Adīb (Abdullah Edip), known as Jannatʹzādah (Cennet-zade), qāḍī of Erzurum, accompanied by his seal, reads: "وقفت وقفا صحيحا شرعيا على ان لا يخرج من بيت الكتب الملتصق بداري الا لعلماء سكنوا بارضروم بكفيل مرعى اورهن قوي وانا الفقير اليه عز شانه السيد عبد الله اديب الشهير بجنت زاده القاضي بمدينة ارضروم في سنة اثنى وستين ومائتين والف" and a brief waqf statement appears occasionally in margins of the text "وقف جنت زاده" ; extensive glosses ; occasional marginal corrections ; a few notabilia (side-heads) ; reading/study note on p.195 dated 17 Rajab [or Rabīʻ II?] 1220 [ca. 11 October (or 15 July) 1806] reads "افدنا الى هنا مرة ثانية في ١٧ ر سنة ١٢٢٠".
