Binding: Pasteboards covered in dark brown leather ; Type III binding (without flap) ; pastedowns and flyleaves in yellow wove paper ; upper and lower covers bear decorative tooled and gold-painted guilloché roll border framed by gold fillets with floret accents in corners ; sewn in rose-colored thread, two stations ; endbands at head and tail in white ; in poor condition ; back cover has split from codex as well as final signature ; leather repair on spine split and abraded at corners and showing severe red rot.
Support: mainly European laid paper with 12 laid lines per cm. (horizontal) and chain lines spaced 28 mm. apart (vertical) ; burnished ; leaves varying in heft ; watermarks include crown surmounted by fleur de lis, eagle in profile with spread wings, countermark "LV", and scrollwork ; added table of contents in wove paper.
Decoration: Simple illuminated headpiece (ʻunwān) at opening on p.26 consisting of gold-painted rectangular panel surmounted by gold-painted semi-circular piece (dome) with vertical stalks (tīgh) in black ; written area of incipit and facing page surrounded by heavy gold frame ; textual dividers in the form of gold discs appear on incipit and facing page ; section headings, some vocalization scattered throughout codex, and notabilia markers in text rubricated ; occasional textual dividers in the form of inverted commas in red ;
Script: Naskh ; elegant Ottoman hand ; partially seriffed ; mainly open counters ; curvilinear descenders ; effect of tilt to the left.
Layout: Written in 15 lines per page ; frame-ruled.
Collation: i, 2 V(20), V+1 (31), 20 V(231), V+1 (242), 18 V(422), IV (430), V (440), i ; chiefly quinions ; no proper catchwords, but last word of final line on verso of each leaf is repeated at the beginning of the first line on the following recto ; foliation in black ink, Hindu-Arabic numerals ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals (supplied during digitization, includes flyleaves and three inserts ; drops ten pages with p.665 followed by p.656).
Colophon: "Scribal," triangular, reads: "والحمد لله و كفى اسئله الوفاء وكان الفراغ من نسخة الشريفة في وقت الضحى في يوم الاربع الثمانية و العشرين من شهر رمضان المبارك سنة ثلاث و خمسين و ماتين و الف سنة ١٢٥٣"
Explicit: "فهو الجواد الذي لا يخيب من امله ولا ينتصر من خذله ولا يرد دعوة القاصدين ولا يصلح عمل المفسدين وهو حسبنا ونعم الوكيل و صلى الله على سيدنا و نبينا محمد خاتم النبيين وعلى اله وصحبه اجمعين وسلم تسليما كثيرا دائما الى يوم الدين ورضي الله تعالى عن اصحاب رسول الله اجمعين"

Work on excellences of the Prophet Muhammad." ; circular seal impression with figure of goat/gazelle in purple ink as well as inscription "294" in Western numerals on front flyleaf (p.1) ; circular waqf-seal impression in black ink appears on 'title page' (p.25) and several places throughout, reads: "هذا وقف الراجي فيض الصمدي الشيخ احمد ضيا الدين ابن مصطفى الخالدي فمن بدله بعد ما سمعه فانما اثمه على الذين يبدلونه" in name of Aḥmad Ḍiyāʼ al-Dīn ibn Muṣṭafá al-Khālidī (i.e. Ahmed Ziyâüddîn Gümüşhanevî, d. 1893 or 4) ; numerous glosses and marginal corrections.
