"The following tables comprise part II of the American practical navigator as revised in 1880, 1903, 1914, 1923, 1924, 1926, 1928 and 1930 under the direction of the Hydrographic office, Bureau of navigation, Navy department. In the present edition, former tables 12, Reduction of quantities from nautical almanac; 13, Change of sun's right ascension; 28A, 28B, 28C, and 28D, Latitude by polaris; 37, Logarithms for equal altitude sights; and 37A, Equation of equal altitudes near noon, have been omitted. For the former table 7, Conversion of arc and time, which is also omitted from the present edition, table 50, Conversion of arc and time, has been substituted. The designating numbers of the tables retained from former editions remain as heretofore."--Notice, p. 429.
