Throughout the life of the serial the caption title read: The Weekly magazine; the cover title was: The Weekly magazine of original essays, fugitive pieces, and interesting intelligence. This microfilm set contains only a few occassional covers.
A weekly which emphasized fiction, included serial articels on art, and published a number of contributions by Charles Brockden Brown. It was suspended in August 1798, following the death of the editor in the yellow fever epidemic.
Vols. 1-2 include appendix of State papers.
