- Summary
-
The trial of Miss Eliza Dick vs. the Rev. Alexander Fletcher, in the court of King's bench in 1824 for alleged breach of promise, was dismissed without a verdict. Subsequent to the civil trial, a trial was held by an ecclesiastical court, the United associate presbytery of London, in 1824, to investigate the Reverend Fletcher's conduct relating to Miss Dick; by decision of that court the defendant was suspended from the exercise of his office, and from church fellowship.
