The writer was resident of Salem 1637-41 and later minister of the churches at Wenham and Chelmsford successively. The first 25 pages of the note-book were printed in the Historical collections of the Essex institute, v. 1, p. 37-44. The present work is a reprint from the Proceedings of the Mass. hist. society, 1897-99, 2d ser., v. 12, p. 317-338.
