Incipit: "والحواس والصلوة على افضل من ارسله لتبليغ الاوامر والنواهي ... صلوات الله عليهم ما دامت الفروع مترتبة على الاصول والاجناس منقسمة بالفصول وبعد فيقول راجي عفو ربه الغني محمد المشتهر ببهاء الدين العاملي تجاوز الله عنه هذا يا اخوان الدين ما توفرت عليه دواعيكم وتكثرت اليه مساعيكم من متن متين محرر الفصول يتضمن خلاصة علم الاصول فخذوا اليكم زبدة وجيزة موصولة الى كنوزه ونخبة غريزة مطلعة على رموزه ... ورتبته على خمس مناهج ..."

Layout: Written in 6 lines per page ; frame-ruled.
Script: Naskh ; elegant Persianiate hand ; virtually serifless with curvilinear descenders, pointing in distinct dots, occasional sweeping tails, etc. ; glosses in nastaʻlīq.
Decoration: Keywords, section headings and some abbreviation symbols rubricated ; occasional overlining in red.
Support: non-European (likely Persian or Indian) laid paper with 8 laid lines per cm. (horizontal and vertical, varies) and occasional single chain lines visible (see p.12, 70, etc.) ; medium cream in color, transluscent, sturdy and well-burnished.
Binding: Boards covered in block-printed paper (pinwheel with star pattern in blue and black on a white, blue-spotted ground) with dark brown leather over spine (quarter binding) ; Type III binding (without flap) ; board linings in untinted paper ; sewn in dark blue thread, four stations ; worked chevron endbands in brown and yellow, good condition ; overall in fair condition with abrasion, staining, etc.
