Incipit: "قال شيخنا الامام الاجل السيد محي السنة ناصر الحديث ... الحمد لله ذي العظمة والكبرياء والعزة والبقاء والرفقة والعلاء ... اما بعد فان الله جل ذكره ارسل رسوله صلعم بالهدى وديي الحق رحمة للعالمين" Explicit: "وانه لغفور رحيم قال عطا سريع العقاب لاعدائه غفور لاوليائه رحيم بهم" Colophon: "Scribal," rectangular, reads "تم الكتاب بعون الله الملك الوهاب وقد وقع الفراغ من تحرير هذه النسخة الشريفة في بلد سامسون [؟] بحضرت مولانا حاجى الدين ... على يد العبد الضعيف النحيف المذنب المحتاج الراجي الى رحمة ربه اللطيف مؤمن بن خواجه بن موسى غفر الله له ولوالديه ... وقت الضحى في يوم الخميس في واسط شهر رمضان المبارك تاريخ سنه احد وخمسون وثمانمائة من هجرة النبوية ... والله اعلم بالصواب واليه المرجع والمآب" Collation: i, V-1 (9), 24 V(249), II+1 (254), i ; almost exclusively quinions ; catchwords present but occasionally cut off ; foliation in black ink, Hindu-Arabic numerals ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes flyleaves). Layout: Written in 25 lines per page ; frame-ruled. Script: Naskh ; elegant, compact Turkish hand with Persianate features in a medium line ; serifless with effect of tilt to the left (occasionally to the right), slight effect of words descending to baseline (occasionally more exaggerated), rounded but with more rectilinear descenders, pointing mainly in strokes rather than distinct dots, some elongation of horizontal strokes, freely ligatured, hāʼ mudghamah looking like two inverted commas ; partially vocalized. Decoration: Keywords and section headings rubricated ; textual dividers in the form of inverted commas or hāʼ in red ; overlining in orange-red. Support: non-European (likely Arab) paper with 9 laid lines per cm. (horizontal) and chain lines grouped in threes with 8-10 mm. between chains and 40-45 mm. between groups ; well-burnished, thick and sturdy, dark cream to beige in color. Binding: Pasteboards covered in brown leather with red leather repairs to spine and fore edge flap (now lost) ; Type II binding (with flap, now lost) ; doublures (board linings) in an elegant marbled paper (mainly in lavender, red, and dark blue over white) with hinges in shell marbled paper (in blue, pink and yellow) ; upper and lower covers carry large blind-stamped (with tan leather recessed onlay) mandorla (filled with vegetal composition, compare Déroche class. NA 6) with gold-painted accents and tooled pendants (a cluster of rosette stamps), as well as tooled and gold-painted border ; sewn in red and yellow thread, four stations ; worked chevron endbands in pink and light yellow (tail, fair condition) and red and yellow (head, quite good condition) overall in poor condition with significant abrasion and staining, flap lost, lifting and losses of leather (especially at board edges), upper cover detaching, etc. ; repairs in red leather (also damaged). Former shelfmark: From inner front cover and spine label, "IL 344a I" (likely supplied by Yahuda, see acquisitions slip). Accompanying materials: a. Acquisitions slip from Yahuda (for all four volumes, now Isl. Ms. 453, 454, 455, 456) -- b. Inventory cataloguing slip in hand of Winifred Smeaton Thomas -- c. Slip with title and inventory number in hand of Winifred Smeaton Thomas (paginated pp.47-48). Origin: As appears in colophon on p.512, copied by Muʼmin ibn Khwājah ibn Mūsá ( Mümin bin Hoca bin Musa ) with transcription completed mid-Ramaḍān 851 [November 1447] in Sāmsūn [?] (i.e. Samsun ?). Former owners' marks on 'title page' (p.3) include circular seal impression, partially effaced ownership statement "كتاب سعد بن ...", and ownership statement ownership statement in name of Muḥammad Amīn ʻĀṭif (Mehmet Emin Atıf) reads "من كتب العبد محمد امين عاطف عفا الله عنه" ; numerous marginal and interlinear glosses and corrections ; notabilia (side-heads).
